The façade

Façade occupying one side of the square, imposing basement on 2 levels and half-buried cellars, giant order spanning the two upper floors, monumental cornice and balustrade in front of the mansard roof. In addition to the general program of the façade, dedicated to the Dukes of Brabant, the house emblem and 2 cartouches depicting tools used in the tannery profession.

History and restorations

Reconstruction in 1696-1698 on the site of a row of already unified brick houses from 1441 built on the site of a medieval fortified house (Architect Willem De Bruyne). Restoration in 1881-1892 and 1986-1990.

Did you know

The 19th century restorers indicated the date of their intervention: "Restauratum 1890".
