The façade
Façade on covered gallery on the ground floor, giant order spanning 2 levels, scrolled gable. The star at the top of the gable refers to the name of the house. Under the arcades, monument to Mayor Charles Buls by Victor Rousseau and Victor Horta in 1899 and monument to Everart t' Serclaes by Julien Dillens in 1902.
History and restorations
Reconstruction in 1695-1696, demolished in 1853 to widen the street, and rebuilt on a gallery opened in 1896-1897. Restoration by the City completed in 2008; monument to Everard t' Serclaes replaced by a copy in 2016. The original is now kept at the City Hall.
Did you know
Since its reconstruction in 1896, the house has served as an annex to The Swan and bears the same number.
