The façade
Façade similar to that of The Wheelbarrow, with 4 registers in the Antique style and a baroque gable. Decorative program : house emblem, tools used in the carpentry profession, 5 caryatids and the year of construction.
History and restorations
Reconstruction in 1697, integrating part of the stone façade from 1644 (Architects Pieter Paul Merckx and Antoon Pastorana). Restorations in 1854-1858, and 1907-1913; most recent restoration by the City completed in 2015.
Did you know
Only the façade of the house has been preserved, and it stands in front of a modern apartment building, built in 1938-1939.
