The façade
Façade composed of 3 registers with 3 antique orders; balustrade and roof dome. Rich decorative program featuring: a bust of Saint Aubert, patron saint of bakers, portrait of King Charles II of Spain, sovereign of the Netherlands at the time of construction, mythological figures on the balustrade and an allegory of Fame at the top of the dome.
History and restorations
Six houses built in 1696 at the corner of Rue au Beurre and the Grand Place, on the ruins of an old fortified house (Architect Jan Cosyn). Complete reconstruction in 1898-1902; most recent restoration by the City completed in 2015.
